Swanton Sector Border Patrol agents arrested over 3,000 migrants in May, marking a record for the Canadian border sector and bringing this fiscal year’s total to over 10,000 — another record.
Unofficial Border Patrol reports reviewed by Breitbart Texas showed Swanton Sector agents made about 3,000 arrests in May, the highest monthly total in the sector’s history. This sector covers the Canadian border with eastern New York, Vermont, and New Hampshire, surpassing the annual totals for any fiscal year before the Biden administration.
Swanton Sector Chief Patrol Agent Robert Garcia shared on social media that agents have apprehended over 10,000 migrants since the fiscal year began on October 1, 2023, surpassing last year’s record of 6,925 arrests.
Migrant apprehensions in the Swanton Sector surged dramatically under the Biden administration. Garcia noted that April’s apprehensions exceeded the combined annual totals of FY21 and FY22.
Since President Joe Biden took office in January 2021, Swanton Sector agents have arrested over 18,000 migrants — more than all previous years dating back to FY 2004 combined.
