Robberies and assaults in New York City’s Central Park are surging, causing fear among residents and tourists.
The New York Post reported a 222% increase in robberies in 2024 compared to the same period in 2023, with 29 incidents already surpassing 2019’s total. Felonious assaults have also doubled.

Upper East Side resident Kirsten Edwards expressed her concerns, saying she avoids the park in the early hours due to safety fears, noting, “Frankly, I’ve never felt this unsafe in Central Park.”
The Post featured an image of Jermaine Longmire, accused of attempting to rape a woman in the park.

New York City faces various violent incidents, including approximately 22,000 shoplifting cases since the start of 2024, as reported by Breitbart News in May. Recently, two Mexican tourists were pushed onto subway tracks in an unprovoked attack, and a man was arrested for allegedly pushing his girlfriend onto subway tracks, resulting in severe injuries.
Additionally, a female NYPD officer was injured during an altercation with a repeat offender on probation.
