At least 17 people have been shot during Labor Day weekend in Chicago, with three fatalities reported.
ABC 7 reported the first fatality occurred around 9:30 p.m. on Friday when a 49-year-old woman was shot while sitting on a porch in the 11800 block of S. Indiana. She was hit twice by gunfire from a passing vehicle and later died at the hospital.
Just after midnight on Saturday, a 58-year-old woman was shot and killed in the 3900-block of West Ogden Avenue while inside a vehicle. She was shot in the neck.
The third fatal shooting involved a man who was inside a stopped vehicle in the 2900-block of East 89th Street. He was shot in the chest and later died at the hospital.
The Chicago Sun-Times homicide database shows that 378 people have been killed in Chicago so far in 2024.
