Colorado police arrested a library media teacher after video surfaced showing him placing a 6-year-old student in a headlock outside Maplewood Elementary School. The Greeley-Evans School District 6 notified police of the incident on August 30, leading to the arrest of 40-year-old Joshua David Wainscott on September 11.
The affidavit revealed that Wainscott allegedly tightened his grip after the child tried to escape, causing the student difficulty in breathing. Wainscott faces felony charges of second-degree assault and misdemeanor child abuse. The district placed him on administrative leave and informed parents via a letter, expressing regret over the situation.
