A Cuban national, Dayren Roque Lopez, wanted for the murder of a young woman in Tennessee, was arrested in La Pryor, Texas, after entering the U.S. using the CBP-One app. Tennessee Senator Marsha Blackburn (R) criticized the Biden-Harris administration, stating the app allows violent criminals into the country.

Authorities named Lopez as the sole suspect in the death of 25-year-old Dayana Garcia, found dead in a Cleveland, Tennessee home, believed to be a victim of domestic violence. Texas deputies, spotting Lopez’s vehicle, arrested him near the U.S./Mexico border, 1,100 miles from the crime scene. Lopez now awaits extradition to face charges in Tennessee.

Zavala County Sheriff Eusevio Salinas praised his deputies, particularly Deputy V. Alvizo, for arresting Lopez without incident. Salinas noted that the border area has seen a rise in smuggling and violent incidents during the Biden administration. In recent years, fatal smuggling pursuits have claimed lives, including an incident in November 2023 where a smuggler and five migrants died, along with two innocent motorists.
