Law enforcement has launched a manhunt for Ronald Lee Syrvud, an Arizona man and convicted sex offender, who allegedly threatened to assassinate former President Donald Trump during his visit to the southern border in Cochise County. Syrvud, wanted for multiple outstanding warrants including DUI, failure to register as a sex offender, and felony hit-and-run, is being sought as an “investigative lead” in the threats against Trump.
The Cochise County Sheriff’s Office described Syrvud as a 66-year-old white male from Benson, Arizona, located about 50 miles north of the U.S.-Mexico border. Authorities have urged the public to contact law enforcement with any information on his whereabouts.

Trump announced his visit to the border town of Sierra Vista on Thursday, where he planned to “inspect the southern border” and meet with families affected by violence involving illegal immigrants. The visit follows a recent tour of the area by his running mate, JD Vance, hosted by the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office.
This latest threat comes just weeks after an assassination attempt on Trump during a campaign rally in Pennsylvania. Since then, Trump has taken additional security measures, including the use of a bulletproof glass structure during a recent outdoor rally in North Carolina.
