An illegal alien, Jesus Sandoval-Martinez, is accused of killing 22-year-old Tiger Gutierrez in a drunk driving crash in Albuquerque, New Mexico, which also left another person injured.
Sandoval-Martinez, a 21-year-old illegal alien from Mexico, has been arrested and charged with two counts of vehicular homicide, reckless driving, leaving the scene of a crash, and failure to adhere to traffic signs.
According to Albuquerque Police, on July 1, Sandoval-Martinez was driving drunk, speeding, and without a license when he ran a red light and hit Tiger Gutierrez’s Tesla and a Toyota Corolla. Sandoval-Martinez allegedly fled on foot but was restrained by bystanders until officers arrived.
Gutierrez and his passenger, Mia Montoya, were taken to a hospital with critical injuries. Gutierrez died, while Montoya is now reportedly in stable condition. The Toyota driver suffered minor injuries.
Officers found empty beer cans in Sandoval-Martinez’s vehicle and confirmed he was drunk at the time. Gutierrez was a coach at E3 Volleyball and passionate about his Tesla. E3 Volleyball officials expressed their shock and grief in a Facebook post, mourning the loss of a talented coach and wonderful human being.
Fox News correspondent Bill Melugin reported that ICE agents confirmed Sandoval-Martinez is an illegal alien from Mexico. He remains in the Metropolitan Detention Center with an ICE detainer requesting custody if he is released.
