The EU’s new Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD) imposes environmental, social, and governance (ESG) requirements on large businesses worldwide, including those in the U.S. The directive mandates that companies adopt “due diligence” practices aligned with left-wing values, impacting industries like agriculture and tech. Major U.S. businesses such as Amazon, Apple, and Sysco Foods will face steep compliance costs, as well as pressure to force their supply chains to follow suit. The law allows for severe fines and lawsuits, creating a significant threat to U.S. economic sovereignty.
The directive also mandates wealth transfers to small and medium-sized businesses globally, further burdening American companies and raising costs for U.S. consumers. Critics argue the CSDDD undermines U.S. sovereignty and warns of widespread economic damage unless American leaders take swift action.
