Four Syrian brothers have been arrested for the near-fatal stabbing of a 67-year-old music teacher in a Hamburg suburb last month. The attack occurred on July 19th in a parking lot outside an adult education center in Wedel, where the teacher sustained serious neck and upper body injuries before fleeing inside the school.
Initially, police arrested two men in connection with the stabbing, but they were released due to insufficient evidence. However, this week, four Syrian brothers, aged 17, 19, and two 21-year-olds, were arrested by the local homicide squad on suspicion of attempted murder and dangerous bodily harm.
Public Prosecutor Peter Müller-Rakow stated that arrest warrants were issued after extensive investigations. Police confirmed that the teacher knew his attackers, although it is unclear whether they were his students.
The four brothers remain in custody and have not yet commented on the incident. The adult education center where the attack took place promotes itself as a place of lifelong learning and equal educational opportunities for all.
