Ella Emhoff, stepdaughter of Vice President Kamala Harris and known for her leftist activism, has controversially promoted the use of ketamine as a treatment for chronic pain. Emhoff, 25, shared her experiences with a spinal condition on Instagram, where she recommended ketamine infusion therapy, citing her own struggles with pain following back surgery during her adolescence.

In a subsequent post, she provided a link to a Google document detailing ketamine as a pain management option. This promotion comes amid concerns raised by law enforcement, including Customs and Border Protection officials, who have noted a surprising rise in ketamine being used recreationally and in dangerous combinations with other drugs like fentanyl.

While ketamine, originally approved as an anesthetic over 50 years ago, has been adopted as an alternative pain treatment, its hallucinogenic effects and potential for misuse have sparked controversy. Emhoff’s advocacy for the drug adds to her history of polarizing actions, including raising money for Gaza following Hamas attacks on Israel.
