A Las Vegas homeowner shot and killed an intruder attempting to break into their home early Thursday morning. The incident occurred around 7:40 a.m. on the 6400 block of Placer Drive, near West Harmon Avenue and South Torrey Pines Drive. The homeowner, in their 20s, called 911 as the intruder, described as a man in his 30s or 40s, acted “extremely irrational” and refused to leave. As the man moved toward the homeowner, they shot him.
When officers arrived, they found the intruder in the driveway with a gunshot wound. He was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. According to Las Vegas police, there appeared to be no prior relationship between the homeowner and the intruder, and the homeowner had recently moved into the residence. Surveillance footage was obtained, and police do not anticipate an arrest at this time. The case will be reviewed by the Clark County District Attorney’s office for any potential charges.
