A third-grade teacher in Union Parish, Louisiana, was arrested for allegedly threatening to shoot his students. Robert Mitcham, 70, of Downsville Community Charter School (DCCS), reportedly told students he had “bullets for his gun” and would bring it to school to shoot them. He also allegedly said some students “would not survive” and claimed he had “only six bullets” for the children, according to the New York Post.

Mitcham was arrested and charged with terrorizing. Union Parish Sheriff Dusty Gates assured parents that the school has resource officers on campus and encouraged them to report any concerns through the Safe Schools Louisiana app or Crime Stoppers. Mitcham is prohibited from returning to school until the case is resolved.
