A Rasmussen Reports survey found that 59% of Americans support homeschooling, with 25% strongly approving, while only 30% disapprove. At the same time, faith in public schools remains low, with just 8% rating them as “excellent,” and 35% deeming them “poor.” The survey reflects a growing trend toward homeschooling, partly driven by dissatisfaction with public education and fallout from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Homeschooling has gained traction in recent years, with researchers recognizing it as a viable choice. An analysis by The Washington Post estimates 1.9 to 2.7 million homeschooled children, attributing the surge in part to pandemic-related disruptions. Many parents, frustrated by school closures and left-wing ideologies in curricula, turned to homeschooling.

Interestingly, the survey shows broad political approval for homeschooling, though Republicans lead with 70%, compared to 54% of Democrats. Women, especially those under 40, show the most support for homeschooling and are the most critical of public schools.
