Police are searching for a man who was caught on video randomly punching an 81-year-old woman from behind in Manhattan’s Upper West Side. The incident took place near W. 66th St. and Amsterdam Avenue on Friday, as the woman, identified as Gloria, was walking her dog.
In the video, the attacker, dressed in dark clothing, strikes Gloria from behind, causing her to hit her head against a building and collapse. Bystanders rushed to help, while the assailant calmly walked away. Gloria suffered a concussion, a broken nose, and bruising to her face and neck.
Despite her injuries, Gloria expressed sympathy for her attacker, stating she would prefer he receive help rather than imprisonment. She remains determined to continue walking her dog and refuses to let the attack confine her to her apartment.
The NYPD continues to investigate, but no arrests have been made yet.
