A pro-life group claims that Planned Parenthood is embedding itself in sex education programs across schools nationwide, creating what they describe as an abortion pipeline. The American Life League warns that Planned Parenthood resources are being used by educators to teach sex ed, linking these programs to future abortion services.
Katie Brown, the group’s national director, told The Daily Wire that Planned Parenthood’s sex education aims to build a clientele base. In Los Angeles, Planned Parenthood provides educators to teach topics like “diverse orientations and identities” at schools, training over 2,700 high school students in 2022-2023. They also offer teacher training on subjects like “gender identity” and “sexual orientation.”
Another affiliate, Planned Parenthood of the Pacific Southwest, created a “Sex Ed To-Go” program that includes a module titled “Barriers to Abortion Care”, which suggests that people across the gender spectrum can get pregnant and need abortions. The course criticizes pro-life laws and teaches students how to potentially bypass parental consent for abortions. It also highlights transportation challenges for those in states where abortion is restricted and directs students to pro-abortion organizations like Shout Your Abortion.
Planned Parenthood has ties to schools and colleges across the country, including a Back to School promotion in New Jersey, offering students sexual and reproductive health services. Brown criticized public schools for partnering with an organization responsible for nearly 393,000 abortions in 2023.
