A Tennessee woman faces charges of aggravated child neglect after a one-month-old in her care overdosed on fentanyl, per the Metro Nashville Police Department.

Frances Grech, 34, took the baby to Hendersonville Hospital, where the child began vomiting and changing color, as WSMV reported. The baby was then transferred to Centennial Pediatrics and tested positive for fentanyl. Hospital staff alerted the police and the Department of Children’s Services (DCS).

Grech allegedly attempted to blame a friend for the overdose during an interview with a detective. She claimed that after a friend visited for a girls’ night, she checked the baby’s forehead. Shortly after, the baby began vomiting, turned pale, and went limp, prompting Grech to rush to the hospital.

When questioned about drug use, Grech reportedly admitted to using amphetamine early Friday morning. The baby overdosed a little more than a day later, and Grech tested positive for fentanyl.

Grech was arrested and charged with aggravated child neglect.
