The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) apprehended 30 illegal immigrants in Maverick County on Sunday, including three unaccompanied minors and three individuals from “special interest” countries, Iran and Angola. These nations are considered potential security risks due to possible terrorist ties.

In a separate effort, the Texas National Guard stopped 45 illegal immigrants from crossing the Rio Grande River, handing them over to Mexican immigration authorities.

DPS routinely intercepts illegal immigrants, including those from special interest nations. Last week, they apprehended a similar group with 32 unaccompanied minors. Critics argue that the federal government has failed in its constitutional duty under Article IV, Section 4, to defend the U.S. from foreign threats.

Under Governor Greg Abbott’s 2021 Operation Lone Star, Texas DPS has become central to border security efforts, disrupting illegal crossings, smuggling, and drug trafficking. An estimated 15 million illegal immigrants have entered the U.S. under the Biden administration, with some media downplaying the ongoing crisis.
