Tony Dungy, the first black head coach inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, openly criticized Vice President Kamala Harris over a faith-based comment she made in defense of abortion. In her post, Harris claimed that “one does not have to abandon their faith or deeply held beliefs” to support a woman’s right to choose. Dungy responded on X, questioning what “faith” she was referring to, and cited several Bible verses, such as Genesis 1:26 and Jeremiah 1:5, which emphasize the sanctity of life and God’s role in creating life in the womb.

Dungy asked, “Are you talking about the Christian faith that says all babies are made in the image of God…or some nebulous, general ‘faith’ that says we’re good enough and smart enough to make our own decisions?”

As reported by Fox News, Dungy also shared a post by former NFL tight end Benjamin Watson. Watson disputed Harris’ assertion that pro-life laws caused the death of Amber Thurman, a young mother from Georgia, due to complications from legal abortion drugs. Watson emphasized that Georgia’s pro-life law doesn’t criminalize life-saving procedures like a D&C, and pointed to medical negligence as the true cause of her death.

Watson added, “Amber should be alive, and [Harris] should focus her attention on these facts…rather than promoting politically motivated falsehoods.”
