Two men were arrested after a Saturday afternoon shooting on Vanderbilt University’s campus left one person wounded, Metro Nashville Police told Fox News Digital.
The incident occurred around 4:30 p.m. following an argument between construction crew members at Sutherland House, a residence hall that was unoccupied at the time.
Police identified the suspects as Luis Enrique Ramirez Sandoval, 38, and Jose Humberto, 27, who were arrested by Vanderbilt officers at a nearby market. The shooting led to a campus-wide alert advising students to avoid the area.
Three people were taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, including a 19-year-old man shot in the arm.
Vanderbilt University stated there is no ongoing threat and that officials are collaborating with police on the investigation involving external contractors at the dorm.
Police found a firearm on Sandoval, who is charged with aggravated assault. Humberto faces charges for facilitating aggravated assault by retrieving the gun for Sandoval. Additional charges against Sandoval are pending as the investigation continues.
